Invitation to connect your project to a global citizen science hub

Dear citizen science project leaders!

I am writing to invite you to join more than 50 citizen science project leaders who have already connected to a global hub through National Science Foundation-supported digital tools known as “SciStarter Affiliate Tools”.

The digital tools are designed for projects registered on SciStarter (projects on SciStarter are shared with other international hubs and media outlets) to Plug-and-Play with your website or app to enable citizen scientists to discover, join, and track their participation in your project and other projects (citizen scientists tend to participate in multiple projects across platforms!). By using the tools, you’ll learn more about your volunteers, too. Are you interested in learning what other projects they join or bookmark? Simply click on your project’s Stats page on SciStarter to view these and other anonymized analytics.

By using the tools, you’ll also help advance trans-university research in the field of citizen science…research that depends on SciStarter and your adoption of these tools. Researchers from North Carolina State University use SciStarter to study patterns of engagement and science learning outcomes. Cornell is examining SciStarter’s project outcomes. Harvard is improving AI-powered recommender algorithms on SciStarter. Arizona State University relies on SciStarter to learn more about the persistence of participants who engage in citizen science through libraries,  museums and media platforms.

Lastly, projects that use the Affiliate Tools are eligible for special programs we run with the Girl Scouts of USA, school districts, college campuses, media partners and more. These special programs require the use of the Affiliate Tools so teachers, troop leaders, and institutional administrators can track the progress of their communities. The tools provide the evidence needed to reward badges, patches, and credits.

Take a look at the instructions on how to use the Affiliate Tools. If you have any questions, our developers are here to help. Just email info@SciStarter.com . If you prefer, you can give our developers access to your site and they can hook up the tools for you in less than 10 minutes.

If you review the Affiliate Tools instructions and discover that you can’t use them on your site or app, let us know. We’re organizing a workshop at North Carolina State University to support people just like you! If you’re interested in being our guest at the workshop, please complete this form: https://goo.gl/forms/Vrow7S6xjlTldH1j2

Cheers!
